Toasted nori sheets. This algae with a subtle aroma, resembling sheets of black paper, is very popular in Japan, where it is mainly used to wrap rice for sushi, maki and onigiri. Nori is also often eaten as a seasoning, crumbled over salads, soups or noodles.
